I am trying my first attempt at a skin, always been intimidated by the html, but my whole computer is Marilyn themed, if you see my 2 page report, you'll see her influence there, and now I am stuck.  How do I make pictures/graphics appear instead of text for example, on the audio tracks?  Do I have to use java script?  If I do, I will have to learn how...  I haven't been able to successfully copy and paste from another report (yet).  Just thought if someone knowlegdable was toodling around with a few extra minutes, you might be able to help...  Here is what I have so far...  If it is too difficult to explain to me easily, maybe you could point me at some good tutorials, that is how I have done it so far.  I have (I think) all my elements on the report, just have to arrange them and assign them properties or whatever...
I guess my main question is... is there an if, then command for html?
So Far
(i plan on some graphics changes in my images file, and am not married to everything on the report yet, I've just spent more time trying to figure out how to make tables and such than refinining the look, yet)

Trying your first skin AND Pics???
It isn't totally clear what you are asking, but here is a start.
To get started with skins in general, read this link (it is not a tutorial). You need to understand DVDPros tag language at a minimum.
how do i do my 1st skin?

For replacing text with pictures, you will need javascript usually. ALthough some skins do it in a simple way with html. There is no "canned" add-on or wizard to do this as it is extremely custom and depends on EXACTLY what you want to do. Read "EXACTLY" as plan ahead before you start typing.

Search the forums for "javascript". Look at skins like "At-A-Glance". This one is more compartmentalized and simpler to see the javascript code.
At-A-Glance Skin

I wish things were simpler, but they are not. So few people write their own code, there is no "Hello World" equivalent code for javascript and pictures. Although one would be simple to write, the permutations get enormous. A skin like the one above should help a lot though.

I have been using that one as a model, but even on that one, the regions are not coming up right...  I know what it is...  there is no setting for the multi region...
I have looked up a couple of simple java script tutorial sites, and that is just what I am going to have to do.
Thanks for the reply, was just wondering if I was overlooking something simple through my limited knowledge and experience.

okay...  here is where I am so far...  I can't figure out how to get the thx to show up with the audio stuff..  keep getting some sort of error file, and if anyone is reading this, how do you make scrollbars within a skin?  If I just had a clue...  although I think I am about 90% done...  please have a look and tell me what you think if anyone is interested...

Since its a holiday weekend, how about waiting a few days. I may have some time to look at it soon. How about changing your profile so we can send email to you. Troubleshooting code and script is more easily done via email than forum postings. Setup a new email account if you don't want your primaries publicly vewable. We do care, it's just a matter of some time. One question, what is your directory structure within DVDPro that you are using (where are all your images you are loading in place of text).

Thank you facman   !
I have added an email link and my images are in a "temp" folder within the "skins" folder of DVD Profiler.
As for the html...  I hope I didn't make too much of a garbledy mess of it, but I have managed to make it work for me using the 1024x768 display setting.  I don't know how it will look on any other display, for one, the frames around my images...  I didn't know how to resize them or even to stretch a background image instead of tiling.  That would help me a lot!
I am so eternally grateful that anyone would take an interest, please...  if I seem overly anxious, please forgive.  Plus any time you wait is time I get to play with it some more.

Okay...  latest...  the 4 things I don't have figured out yet are:
1. Scrollbars (so my overview/actors cells are always the same size)
2. Links to images for the boxed sets...  roolku did it...  i know it can be done!
3. Resizing images so if you use them as background images they will stretch instead of tiling.
4. Why won't the multi setting work on the regions?

Also, when I use the html editor tool, the one I have has dozens of syntax or missing close/open tags...  I don't know if that matters too much, it still works for me.

Thanks to the help of facmanboss, this is ready to post   If anyone tries it out, please let me know what you think and how it works for you...
There are still some things I'd like to tweak a little, but this one will do for version 1 of my first skin...  Also, on my website, I posted the special font file (matura script) in case the user doesnt have it, the image files, and the skin file.

Girly skin in pastel/blue.  Visit my website and get the fonts at www.toomanypuppies.com .  Even tho I used my own feminine touch, if you are a male fan of Norma Jeane, you will enjoy this, too.  Graphic representations of video and audio formats, case and dvd styles.  Includes  overview, actors, and easter eggs as well.  Status is determined by loaned or not loaned, that is how we segregate our viewed or not viewed dvds.
Very custom, started with the "at-a-glance" skin, worked from there, but facmanboss really put the finishing touches on the java script for me...  all hail facmanboss!

Dude - that's just cold. Was it really necessary to bring up an old thread just to pick on someone elses work? If you don't have something nice to say . . .

As Obi-Wan said "Only a master of evil, Darth".
